The project is located in a block in the early 1950s, to be precise on the western border, surrounded by row houses and close to the mall street.
The main location of the project intervention is the second half of the house, which is basically completely remodeled. Looking for contrast on the main façade, we envisaged a façade approach with a series of windows and shutters like traditional Portuguese tile patterns. This pattern is like a skin that filters sunlight, while also protecting the house from intruders.
In order to provide a more livable space for the top floor, we created a double-sloped roof with three windows.
We transformed the first floor into a unique living space, where the entrance, living room and kitchen are connected together. The closet, bathroom and storage room are decorated in white with painted grid lines. This central area is also spatially subdivided.
The stairs connecting the first and second floors are on the left side of the entire volume. This is to ensure an optimized living area and also a central passage on the first floor. We plan to set up a private area on the first floor, where the rooms include a suite. In order to use the existing space to meet the requirements, the toilet next to the bed is also used as a cabinet. As for the shower room and toilet, they are merged behind the glass wall to weaken the space restriction and provide a greater sense of space. The double pitched roof on the attic provides more living space. There you can see the garden, where a bedroom, toilet and an office are placed.
